A Comprehensive Japanese Textbook for Upper-Beginner to Intermediate Learners – Follow-up to the Foundational Series “NEJ”
This integrated Japanese language textbook is designed for learners at the JLPT N4 level, aiming to help them reach JLPT N3 proficiency. It builds on the foundational series NEJ, offering a theme-based, self-expression-oriented curriculum.
Each unit consists of two sections: a Conversation Part and a Lecture Part.
The Conversation Part focuses on personal topics such as "Childhood Memories" and "Family History". Using model dialogues between Li-san and Mr. Nakata, students develop intermediate-level conversational skills and natural speaking strategies.
The Lecture Part explores topics related to modern society, such as "Companies and the Individual" and "Foreign Residents in Japan". Through a series of 12 connected lectures by Professor Nishiyama, learners gain deeper insights into Japanese society and intellectual writing styles, while also improving their ability to speak and write in a more advanced manner.
After exploring each topic's content and language, students are encouraged to express their own thoughts and experiences related to the theme. The curriculum aligns with the CEFR framework, with carefully selected themes that promote meaningful self-expression through activities such as discussions and essay writing.
The textbook also includes a supplementary booklet, "Kanji and Words", which covers the kanji and compound words used in each unit. Audio materials are available via online download.
