In order to improve communication skills, it is important to be able to clearly hear what is being said. To that end, the aim of this study material is to have the learner be able to recognise and understand the sentence patterns and vocabulary he/she has studied just by hearing them.
The questions in each chapter of both books are divided into four sections: I. Listen to the conversation and select the appropriate illustration; II. After hearing the conversation, listen to the question and select which is correct (O or X); III. Listen to a slightly longer, natural conversation and do a task to confirm you have gained the main points; and IV. Listen to a question and answer in your own words.
The sentence patterns and vocabulary used in this book are the same as those found in Elementary Japanese 2 Daichi Main Text, and so they can be used for reviewing each chapter of the main text.
