From the Introduction
This is the workbook for Ohisama [Hajime no Ippo] – Japanese for Children (a Japanese language textbook for children, hereafter Ohisama). It covers the same topics and learning items as the textbook for ease of use together, but it can also be used on its own. It is suitable for use in educational institutions as well as at home.

The target learners are multilingual (those who use more than one language) and bilingual children, who grow up surrounded by multiple languages and cultures. Among them are children learning Japanese as their mother tongue or heritage language, as well as those studying it as a foreign language. This resource aims to enable such children to enjoy learning Japanese for self-expression and mutual understanding, while nurturing intellectual curiosity and a global outlook.
